Until recently the activity of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists in the Sumy region has been known only from the scraps of memories of separate people. As for the staying of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army’s detachments in the Sumy region, this problem has not been discussed at all, because the geography of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army’s activity was quite limited and consisted only from the investigation of the western and southern part of Ukraine.
The first collection of the materials, that is proposed, is not to destroy all these myths, but to propose to the scientists and investigators the new basis for the further conclusions and new research directions about the rebellion movement in the north of Ukraine in forties-fifties of the twenty century and its participants. In the result of the preliminary research work it became possible to find out about 100 unique documents, 69 of which are placed in this collection. They directly point out that the Ukrainian nationalist movement really existed at the territory of the Sumy region in
forties-fifties of the last century. The greater part if this material consists of the district and town communist committees’ documents. Its correspondence with the soviet repressive organs about the findings out of the Ukrainian underground structures on the territory of the region, believings of people, personal data of some participants of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.
